Falling in Line

I wake up earlier than I would like and fall in line.

I fall in line behind cars behind cars circling the drive.

The drive-thru, finally, next in line. Six-dollar steaming chai.

Steaming chai wakes little in me as I drive straight.

Drive straight yet weave through gaps in traffic, running late.

Running late again, yet again, is there no end to…
