September in Review
A lot of writers on Substack do monthly reviews, highlight books read, interesting things encountered, etc.
So, a book I finished just this morning was A Curious Faith by Lore Ferguson Wilbert. I encountered her writing here on Substack and subsequently got her book. I have also been exploring themes of questions and answers, faith and doubts, things that we're sometimes afraid to ask, and things we shouldn't be afraid to ask.
It was a five-star book for me and I plan on rereading it with my husband and possibly my son, which is saying a lot because it's hard these days to get reading time alone much less with others. Here was one quote I loved from her book (there were lots more).
I didn't have as much time for reading as I would like because most of my reading has been class assignments. Between my two primary psychology classes—biopsychology and abnormal psychology—I find myself more drawn to the material for abnormal psychology. One of the things I was hoping to do this first semester is to see what area of psychology I’m more interested in, so I guess I'm more drawn to abnormality than anatomy. (Who woulda thought?)
In all honesty, this last week has been a challenging one. Do you ever get blindsided by a week? You've made your plan and know exactly how things need to unfold in order to get everything done that you need to get done.
Then the unexpected happens.
The Unexpected was my husband getting sick with what we're pretty sure is a kidney infection.
What I Had Planned To Get Done is everything I've been putting off for the last week of September that is due by the end of September (namely a couple of editing projects).
