So, tomorrow is Easter.
On the socials, your feed might be inundated by pictures of families gathered and wearing bright (or possibly pastel) and neat-looking clothing.
Or your feed might be filled with bright and colorful Easter eggs. Children wearing bright and colorful clothing on Easter egg hunts.
Or maybe a combination of both.
I have brightly colored Easter things. And I eat jellybeans with the best of them.
And although I respect the brightness of the season and of what many celebrate on Easter, I love the way Frederick Buechner (a favorite author) doesn’t shine a searing prismatic spotlight on the scene.
Rather, I feel like I’m walking in that hazy place before dawn, when shadows are a very real thing, when no color palette has whet your appetite or landed on your taste buds and you’re not sure if it ever will.
