Oh, I know what you mean. A couple months back, I wrote a post about taking my older son up to his college town, and the time there was poignant, not just for the prospect of saying bye to him but reflecting on my daughter having gone to college as well a few years earlier.
It is a kind of grief. As parents, and mothers especially, we have so much gratitude in seeing them growing up, but it's mingled with a sorrow that they'll never be those little ones again, and it's hard.
Thank you for sharing. That was also beautiful for me to read! I almost feel the grief of a mother is like the war medals we get to wear on our lapels. A part of who we are. Something to be proud of.

Well that hit me right in the heart. My 3 have just phased all into teen-dom and I have been experiencing a lot of grief in my quiet moments.
They don't really prepare you for this.
